CityLeaks QR-Codes
All murals painted during CityLeaks Festival have been marked by MSH AND MORE under support of kehrseite. Additional information on the artists and murals will be easily accessible via QR-codes that can be read with smart phones.
Apart from that, the position data of every artwork is connected to Google Maps, Gowalla and Foursquare. Thus, Cologne citizens may take walks across the city and explore urban art in a playful way.
On Sunday, 25th September there will be the opportunity to test the QR-codes on an exclusive tour organised by MSH. More Info here.
INTI Web Clip
During CityLeaks Festival, a large wall at Vogelsanger Straße became home to one of Chilean street artist INTI‘s enigmatic ninja figures. Seemingly inviting and holding us off alike, the bright fellow with its totemic masks, skull necklace and maize cobs unites all kinds of motives and elements from Chilean indigenous cultures. No matter what ideas it will provoke in the passerby, one will always feel the powerfully radiant warmth emanating from INTI’s beautiful wall that promises to heat up Cologne on cold days to come. See INTI in action and learn more about his art and the origin of its influences. Feel the heat!
Laguna web clip
Spanish artist Laguna enchanted us all with that beautiful artwork he painted onto the large wall of a car park near Friesenplatz. Towering over the busy traffic rolling along Magnusstraße, two dreamers face each other in a dazzling caleidoscope of powerful colours. With his bright counterpoint in that otherwise unspectacular spot of Cologne, Laguna created an enigmatic invitation to dream oneself away. See him working on his massive wall and listen what he has to tell us about his art, dreams and the surrealism of the everyday.
ZEDZ & Smash137 Web clip
Graffiti grandmasters Smash137 from Switzerland and ZEDZ from the Netherlands created a joint piece on a large wall at Ehrenfeld´s EVA centre. Smash´s unique style-writing and Zedz´ multi-dimensional square pieces merge into an impressive tableau at the edge of graffiti and street art. Watch them “co-scoring” their artwork and listen their comments on street art, graffiti and everything in between.
Web clip: Claudio Ethos
Brazilian street artist Claudio Ethos honoured us with one of his graphic pieces at the beginning of September. An enigmatic monk now observes the busy traffic rolling up and down Vogelsanger Straße. Passers-by are invited to reflect, dream and scare. Watch Claudio working on his piece and learn more about his grasp on street art.
ZEDZ & Smash137 in action
Graffiti grandmasters ZEDZ and Smash137 started their joint piece on Monday. Enjoy an intimate insight into their work shot with a live camera installed on the artists´ heads. See them at Christianstraße 1!
Herakut Webclip
Street Art duo Herakut has already enchanted many of the world´s cities with their dreamy-melancholic murals. This August hera and akut finally endowed us with a beautiful large-scale piece at Venloer Straße. The big eyes of a girl and her dog, now watching over the park of Ehrenfeld´s community centre, seem to ask us: „Whose afraid of whom?“ Anyway, we´ve already fallen in love with the two of them. Big thanks to Herakut! Watch them painting and listen to their words.
BLU & Captain Borderline – first CityLeaks Murals
Italian Street Art grandmaster BLU unofficially opened CityLeaks Festival in June with a stunning large-scale mural at Cologne´s Hansaring. Located at one of the city´s busiest spots, the menacing head of a faucet haired medusa stares down on the passing traffic. To its left we can glimpse Street Art duo Captain Borderline realizing their mural. In immidiate neighbourhood to Cologne´s largest cinema palace their wall reveals the business of moving pictures as collective brainwashing. See their work in time lapse.
