Music performance by the artist Jim Avignon. With his live musical scoring of the silent film “Berlin: Symphony of a Metropolis” (1927, Walter Ruttmann) artist Jim Avignon will be creating a visual sound experience at the Herz Jesu Church near Zülpicher Platz. The experimental documentary film by Walter Ruttmann premiered in September 1927 in Berlin and describes one day in the capital of Germany, a city which experienced an industrial boom in the 1920s. The work by Ruttmann portrays the metropolis as a living organism and as an analogy to a symphony.
